Project Description: |

|
The Jalaur Multipurpose Project is a reservoir/impounding type of
hydropower development along Jalaur River. It will be located in the
Municipality of Calinog, Iloilo.
The project has a potential capacity of 20 MW and is estimated to
generate about 58.10 GWh of electricity per year.
Power generated will be sold to the local electric cooperatives and
industries. This shall benefit households, institutions, commercial
and industrial consumers in the islands of Visayas. |

Multipurpose Project being spearheaded by the National Irrigation
Administration. |

Project Status as of June 2011: |
|

|
PNOC RC evaluated the previous study of the National Irrigation
Administration (NIA) on Jalaur for the establishment of a
multipurpose project inloving irrigation, power generation and
potable water storage. Result of the review led to the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PNOC RC and NIA to jointly
pursue the viability of the said multipurpose project. Presently,
both PNOC RC and NIA are undertaking coordination activities and
holding meetings to discuss priority project activities. |
