Project Description |
|
|
|
The Abuan Hydropower Project is a reservoir type hydropower
development along the Abuan River 6.5 km upstream of its confluence
with the Pinacanauan de Ilagan River. It will be located in
Barangay Villa Imelda, Ilagan, Isabela.
The project has a potential capacity of 60 MW and is estimated to
generate about 172 GWh of electricity per year.
The proposed pfoject will be connected to the Luzon grid. Power
generated will be sold to the local electric cooperatives and
industries. This shall benefit households, institutions, commercial
and industrial consumers of Isavela, the rest of Cagayan Valley
provinces and cities and other areas in the island of Luzon. |

Project Status as of July 2011: |
|
|
|
The contract to conduct feasibility study for Abuan Hydro Power
Project was awarded to DCCD Engineering Corporation (DCCD). PNOC RC
and DCCD met with officials of the LGU to explain the project and to
schedule the conduct of information/education campaign activity
particularly to the residents of the affected areas. Currently
undertaking initial site investigations as preliminaries for the
conduct of feasibility study. |
