What is Renewable Energy?

These sources of energy renew and replenish themselves constantly and within a reasonably short period of time.

The Company

PNOC Renewables Corporation (PNOC RC) is a fully owned subsidiary of state-owned Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC). Organized in February 2008, it is the newest PNOC subsidiary.

PNOC RC will be the primary vehicle of PNOC in promoting, developing and implementing new and renewable energy sources in the country. Through renewable energy, the country would be able to reduce its dependence on imported oil, while mitigating climate change. Renewable energy is an important component in the country's drive towards energy self-sufficiency, security and independence

Raison d'être

Planet Earth is in trouble. It is facing the twin specters of Doom and Gloom. The Philippines with most of its 7,100 islands in low-lying areas could even confront extinction. If global warming is not arrested, experts predict that almost 50% of the Philippines would be under water in less than five generations. If the rate of energy consumption is not curtailed, oil could be depleted in two generations.

Renewable energy addresses the dual threats of energy shortage and global warming. It is practically infinite, if managed properly. It is carbon neutral, with zero or minimal green house gas emissions. Moreover, the Philippines has the advantage of being rich in renewable energy resources. We are blessed with abundant sunshine, water, wind, and vegetation. All of these naturally occurring sources could be harnessed to generate renewable energy.

PNOC Renewables Corporation recognizes the urgency of averting disaster and darkness for the sake of future generations. We must mitigate climate change, preserve the environment and attain sustainable development. PNOC RC shall pursue its mission and vision to lead the country's development and utilization of renewable energy with utmost zeal, vigor and integrity. As responsible inhabitants of Planet Earth, we can do no less for our children, our children's children, our grandchildren's children, ad infinitum. This will be our lasting legacy.
