Rizal 1MW Hydro Power Plant
The Rizal PRIS MC Hydropwer Project is located in Barangay Poblacion West, Rizal, Nueva, Ecija.
PNOC RC collaborated with the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to harness hydropower from the irrigation systems. A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed last November 7, 2012 for the development of the initial 6 sites. In February 2014, PNOC Renewables Corporation secured a service contract for the Rizal Project.
With a potential installed capacity of 1,000kW and potential annual generation of 4.64 GWh, the project was completed and officially inaugurated last December 9, 2015.
32MW Maibarara Geothermal Plant
The Maibarara project is an integrated power facility comprising steamfield power station and transmission line. MGI’s power plant is linked by a 5-km ling 115kV transmission line to the Luzon grid through the Meralco distribution system.
The facility was synchronized to the Luzon Grid on November 4, 2013 in coordination with Meralco and NGCP and it started its commercial operation on February 8, 2014. The project has recently expanded to another 12MW and was commissioned last April 2018.
The project owner and operator, Maibarara Geothermal Inc. (MGI) is a joint-venture company owned by PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC), with a 65% stake, TransAsia Oil & Energy Development Corp. (TAO), which owns a 25% stake, and PNOC Renewables Corp (PNOC RC) with a 10% stake in the project.
PHC 100KW Solar Rooftop Project
The Philippine Heart Center hospital proper is a 354-bed tertiary care center. There are twenty-one nursing units, including the 53 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, 24 suites, 56 private rooms, 3 adult presidential suite, 74 semi-private rooms, 3 adult service wards and a pediatric service ward.
The PHC Solar PV Rooftop project was completed last November 2015.
Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) LED Installation
As mandated by the Republic Act 6975 of the DILG Act of 1990, the PPSC is the premier educational institution for the training, human resource development and continuing education of all personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology (BJMP). The agency has a strong commitment to excellence, having acquired its ISO 9001:2008.
With several administrative orders enjoining government institutions to adopt energy-saving measures, the institution intends to pursue compliance with this directive by installing energy efficient technologies. PNOC RC, as a DOE-accredited Energy Service Company (ESCO) took the opportunity to partner with PPSC and provide technical assistance and financing for the installation of energy efficient lighting system.
In March 2016, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by PPSC and PNOC RC for the Energy Efficient Lighting Project. The 5-year partnership involves the replacement of the three-thousand seven hundred twenty five (3,725) bulbs of traditional fluorescent and CFL lighting fixtures in the PPSC training camps, the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and National Police College (NPC) Buildings. Energy-efficient LEDs were used, which are expected to reduce energy consumption from lights by up to fifty percent. Under the said agreement, PNOC RC shall finance, install and maintain the lighting fixtures without an upfront cost to the PPSC. Investment costs shall be recouped based on a revenue-sharing scheme from calculated monthly savings.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas 400kWp Security Plant Complex Solar Rooftop
The 400kWp solar facility at the BSP Security Plant Complex (BSP SPC) in Quezon City is the largest among all the installation of PNOC RC on government buildings. This brings the total capacity of PNOC RC for its solar rooftop projects in government agencies at 1.42MW.
The event was attended by Governor Armando M. Tetangco Jr., members of the BSP’s Monetary Board and other executives of BSP. PNOC RC was represented by its Vice President for Operations, Engr. Pete L. Lite and OIC-Vice President for Corporate Services, Atty. Josephine Cassandra Cui.
BSP and PNOC RC intend to implement the solar rooftop program to all BSP branches and offices nationwide. This would not only bring significant savings in electricity cost and at the same time reduce carbon emissions. BSP and PNOC RC remains committed to a cleaner and sustainable energy for the Philippines.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas 200kWp Solar Rooftop
Taguig City – PNOC Renewables Corporation advances its renewable energy projects with government offices as it inaugurates its first solar rooftop installation at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Electronic Data Processing Center (BSP EDPC) building in Manila. This project is expected to generate a 200-kilowatt peak of electricity from solar power, which will supply a portion of the buildings’ energy demands.
The inauguration was attended by Governor Armando M. Tetangco Jr., members of the BSP’s Monetary Board and other executives of the organization. For its part, the Department of Energy was represented by Undersecretary Jesus Cristino P. Posadas, Undersecretary Benito L. Ranque and Mr. Arnie Zabala of DOE Renewable Energy Management Bureau (REMB). The Vice President for Operations, Engr. Pete L. Lite and OIC-Vice President for Corporate Services, Atty. Josephine Cassandra Cui and the Board of Directors were among the executives representing PNOC RC.
100kW DOST Solar Rooftop
Science Heritage Building and other designated buildings at the DOST Complex, Bicutan, Taguig City. Under the MOA, the cooperation period between PNOC Renewable Corporation and DOST shall be (15) years. At the end of the cooperation period, the ownership of the solar panels shall be transferred to DOST.
The DOST Compound is located along Gen. Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig. The project was completed last December 31, 2015.
Commission on Audit 200kWp Solar Rooftop
The 200kWp Solar Rooftop PV System is installed at the COA dormitory and the Professional and Institutional Development Sector (PIDS) building and was inaugurated last March 1, 2017.
UP Diliman Palma Hall 100kW Solar Rooftop
PNOC Renewables Corporation (PNOC RC) and Philippine Heart Center (PHC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the installation of a 100kW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility at the Medical Arts Building, Philippine Heart Center, East Avenue, Quezon City. This project is in support to the thrust of Secretary Carlos Jericho L. Petilla of the Department of Energy (DOE) to promote the use of renewable, clean and green resources such as solar power.
As the renewable energy arm of the Department of Energy (DOE), PNOC RC is set to replicate the MOA with other government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Health (DOH) who has already signified their intention to enter into a similar agreement. Under the MOA, the cooperation between PNOC RC and PHC shall be a maximum period of 15 years. At the end of the cooperation period, the ownership of the solar panels shall be transferred to PHC.
The MOA was executed by Mr. Carlos Jose P. Gatmaitan, the President and CEO of PNOC RC and Dr. Manuel T. Chua Chiaco, Executive Director of PHC. The signing ceremony held in Makati City was attended by members of the PNOC RC Board of Directors, Engr. Pedro L. Lite Jr. (VP for Operations of PNOC RC) and Atty. Gladys N. Nalda (VP for Corporate Affairs). The ceremony was likewise attended by PHC executives Ms. Josephine Lopez, Dr. Gerardo Manzo and Engr. Ricardo Limpin.
UP Diliman Quezon Hall 40kW Solar Rooftop
This 40kW project is the first of 3 Solar Rooftop facilities that will be installed in the UP Diliman Campus. UP Diliman is the first Academic Institution partner of PNOC Renewables Corporation. Signed the MOA last February and took PNOC RC three months and a half to complete the construction of the Quezon Hall. The Melchor and Palma Hall with 100kW Solar Facilities will be completed in the first quarter of 2017.
Boni Tunnel Project
PNOC Renewables Corporation provided 128 units of 50 Watt-peak solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to the Department of Energy as part of its contribution to the Boni Tunnel Energy-Efficient Lighting System (EELS) Project. The project is an initiative of the Department of Energy towards efficient use of energy through promotion of EELS and to showcase the application of solar photovoltaic technology to power tunnel lighting system. It involves installation of energy efficient lighting system consisting of light emitting diode (LED) lamps which will be provided by Philips Electronics and Lighting, Inc., and solar power supply with a total peak capacity of 6.4 kW from PNOC RC and lithium batteries for energy storage to be provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
